Childrens Ministries International (CMI) was created in 2024 in order to address severe and growing childhood poverty in Pakistan, where many children live in families earning less than $20.00 per month. These children are often caught up in intergenerational debt slavery. Many get no formal education - they are undernourished, have poor access to clean water, vaccination or medical treatment. Childhood mortality and orphandom run rampant. 

Vaughn Starr, the founding member of CMI serves as Pastor at Zion's Spies Evangelical Reformed Church in Reading, Pennsylvania. Pastor Vaughn also has a long history in education and  child welfare service. Prior to the Covid pandemic, Vaughn ran and English immersion program for international students providing his first contacts with Pakistan. He has been working on various efforts in Pakistan as far back as 2009. Vaughn describes the mission of CMI in one word - opportunity. The purpose of our mission is to free children and their families from generational debt slavery, to provide healthcare, nutrition and education so that children can realize their potential and access opportunity that has heretofore been closed off to them. The overarching goal is for the villages we help to become self-sustaining and even capable of giving back to their neighbors.

Our partners on the ground in Pakistan include pastors, teachers and general laborers. All have grown up in the poor villages of Pakistan and by fortune and hard work have advanced against the odds. Their hearts are invested in helping those who find themselves stuck in this dire situation out of generational debt slavery and into service for others - never forgetting their own backgrounds.

The west needs to hear the stories of these children: In the US over the past several years it seems to be commonly believed that America is going through hard times - many even say it is worse today than ever before. Understanding how the rest of our world lives provides great perspective helpful for us all to bear in mind. We are not merely living inconsequential lives, we can have great impact.

CMI is totally reliant on the goodwill and support of our communities. We are all volunteers and we are also doing all we can for this mission.
